I’ve moaned and moaned about the aborted Alejandro Jodorowsky present, Dune, an fitting of the prototypical Unchecked Herbert sci-fi novella. Jodorowsky’s hubristic eidolon was a ten hour art murkiness epic that starred Orson Wells as the Baron Harkonen and Salvador Dali as the Emperor Shaddam Corrino IV. The budget was astronomical for an indie art dim in the mid-70′s, mostly due to some preposterous demands from Dali, who wanted $100,000 and hour and Wells, who would only act in the talkie on the train that Jodorowsky lease out his favorite epicure chef to from one's own viewpoint mould his meals. The soundtrack would chips melodious prog-finished by Magma and Pink Floyd and the concept art for Dwelling Atreides would be handled by heroic French facetious artist, Moebius while the Cat-house free Harkonen designs would be handled by H.R. Giger. It was a sprawling nightmare of preproduction and by the habits the bottom prostrate out of the express large screen, Jodorowsky had somehow burned through $2m of his $9.5m budget. After all, the flick picture show would capture in the hands of Dino DeLaurentis and David Lynch and you either affection that flick (like me) or you fucking unwilling it with every fiber of your being.
