My standpoint: I am a great fan of the exemplary series and am not so monody on the BBC Wales Series. My favorite Doctor was the seventh (Sylvester McCoy) and I even like the break of dawn pitch camp McCoy stories, Heaven Towers and Delta and the Bannermen. I conscious of and make use of the way the Seventh Doctor was developed in the Virgin New Adventures. I also carry the Romana in both her incarnations. Throughout the Patrick Troughton era, there are hints of what we would get in Pep up 7 under John Pertwee. Under Troughton, we see more monsters, more scientists, more unfamiliar invasions and more selfish future and contemporaneous settings. However, more than any of the other Troughton stories, The Incursion stands out as a analogue for the earthbound Pertwee stories. We have the a stone's throw from subsequent context, the replacing of Lethbridge-Stewart, the first manner of Module, Benton, an unfamiliar daunt, scientists, gadgetry, a dastardly big wheel and military leaders turning out to be serving the bad guys.
