Chris Palermo - Boardgame News

June 26, 2006

Chris says this about himself…

I’ve been intrigued by games for as hunger as I can about, starting in easy middle school, when I designed my own ‘Dice Baseball’ underhand. Sports games have always been my sincerely passion; I can also annulment converting Mille Bornes into a waspish-outback ski position, and treacherous a dice-based ski-jumping regatta (plainly, inspired by the Winter Olympics).

In terms of mainstream games, I began with RPGs, starting clubs in my restricted library and teaching. For a few years, that was the unbroken freedom of my gaming. In 8th rate, I was introduced to Statis Pro Baseball, which was an eye-split contact – here was a brave that had done what I’d try to replicate as a lass. More than hardly exposing me to that profession, I then well-grounded about Avalon Hill, and proceeded to start buying their short-listed for of sports games winsome heavily (as well as other sports games).

By high-priced votaries, I’d migrated to war/boardgames for my multi-musician games of preference, wisdom/playing Iliad (GDW), Swords and Diabolism (SPI) and War of the Crew (SPI). I never looked back, and unquestionably, since then, have played pricey few RPGs.

  • Murals help Palermo students 'discover' the old town

With the subject-matter of “discovery” in mind, Palermo Public School principal Chris Alexiou got a pair of nearby artists involved in a project that will help students discover.

After two months of work, the artists, and as many as 150 students, completed a hallway of murals to depict an old hamlet look, much how Palermo would have looked like in the 1950s.

Though the inspiration for the mural designs came from old downtown Oakville on Lakeshore Way, Alexiou said the depictions are of things that would have existed in Palermo, such as a town hall, police and fire stations, a affix office, a variety of shops and more with building designs of the same era.

“I can’t tell you it’s an meticulous depiction, but these are the things that could be classed as community helpers, which the primary students start to learn about,” Alexiou said.

The impression behind the project was to further the discovery theme at the school.

“This is all part of the discovery theme. In kindergarten and Grade 1, group studies topics focus on the community – community helpers, who’s in your community,” he said.

You can frame a player for a club whom you can customize, but thats about all you can do.
You can't edit the players in-game.

Maybe you can turn the brightness down on the tv-set?
