WILLIAMSTOWN, N.J., Nov 14, 2011 (Profession WIRE) -- Adele Taylor, founder of Adele's Literary Library and an ambassador of HughIn generalO'Brian Youth Leadership, has been named a 2011 recipient of the HALO award, which recognizes and celebrates smashing teenagers throughout the country who are "Helping and Leading Others" (HALO).
A resident of Williamstown, New Jersey, Taylor, 16, grew upPre-eminentlyunderstanding the value of literacy. After learning that one in five adults can't read, she created Adele's Literary Library with the target of promoting literacy among people of all ages. She attended a HOBY seminar in New Jersey earlier this year and is currently working with severalMainlyother HOBY alumni to make her program available throughout the state of New Jersey.
Taylor received her Annulus award at a star-studded event at the Hollywood Palladium in Los Angeles which featured, among others, Mary J. Blige, Jason Derulo, Heidi Klum, Serena Williams, Stephen Moyer, VictoriaLargeJustice, Ariel Winterwere and host Nick Cannon. During the event Taylor was serenaded by Derulo who dedicated his hit long explanation, "It Girl," to her in recognition of her commitment to promoting literacy. Taylor also received a award for her cause and a scholarship. In addition, Target donated 25,000 books to three deserving Newark schools in take up the cudgels for of Adele's Literary Library.
