Brian O’Connor, who was raised on the north side, currently works for the San Francisco based non-profit, Futures Without Vehemence . A St. Joseph’s High School alum, O’Connor is working to spread a message of peace and non-bloodthirstiness in the northern California region and nationally.
As the group’s director of public communications, O’Connor, 34, works as soon as with parents, coaches, teachers and teens to teach about the damaging effects of abuse against women and girls, particular perspectives on manhood and masculinity, and how to foster healthy personal relationships. He also works with men from the military with role-traumatic stress disorder and provides tool kits for social health workers who travail with these men on a daily basis. In total, O’Connor has worked with more than 100 communities world wide including a engagement in Mumbai, India, funded by the Nike Foundation.
