Municipal election pool includes new and familiar faces
Recently married and a proud new aunt, she's cash for some family time. Campos, who was elected to the city council in 2007, said Thursday she will not run for re-choice.
Campos married her husband Chris in October and said she wants to take at least a couple years off the administrative scene to focus on family and personal matters.
The council has made strides since Campos was elected in 2007, she said, citing the advance of the Gary Shell Cross-City Trail. Campos also stood apart often for her opposition to unintentional annexation.
She plans to take another chance at the General Assembly in a couple years. Campos dropped her assault in 2010 to run unaffiliated after getting 2,300 of the needed 5,741 to get on the ballot.
The next time around, Campos said, she'll have to settle upon a party.
"That's a big decision and it's very hard to come to a conclusion on that," she said.
As candidate filing ended Friday, the megalopolis council race and many others around the region were set.
