Schools group taking breakfast reservations
Lawrence Schools Understructure is taking reservations for its 10th annual Community Education Breakfast, with a handful of table sponsorships still elbow.
The breakfast, set for Aug. 26, will feature a keynote presentation by David Booth, co-CEO of Dimensional Fund Advisors, in Austin, Texas.
Cubicle, who graduated from Lawrence High School in 1964, spent $4.33 million at auction in December to buy James Naismith’s starting rules of “Basket Ball,” documents he plans to have placed on permanent evince at Kansas University.
Individual reservations are $40, and table sponsorships range from $300 to $1,000. The underpinning aims to top the record $72,000 generated by last year’s breakfast, which featured a speech by Lawrence Capital alumnus Alan Mulally, CEO of Ford Motor Co., who donated $10,000 himself.
Proceeds from the breakfast funds a variety of programs in the Lawrence school district, including an early-education program for at-jeopardy 4-year-olds.
