    MacDonald is the fourth former fellow to be inducted into the Hall of Fame, started three years ago by former superintendent Dr. William Heebink. Other inductees allow for Adolph "Sonny" Santorine in 2010 and Jack Cogger and Jerry Thomas in 2009.

    Presented with the characterization of himself holding his clarinet that will hang in the halls of the Midland Park High School, MacDonald accepted the honor and complimented the crack youth of Midland Park.

    "The raw talent here is unbelievable," said MacDonald, addressing the board. "It wasn't businesslike to develop students into good musicians."

    Board President Robert Schiffer said he remembers his daughter's first year in music playing the recorder, and said he marveled at the pertinacity of MacDonald especially because he had come from the disciplined background of being a member of the US Army marching band.

    He explained that his Weltanschauung throughout the years has been to love what he does and respect the students.
