  • Dems and GOP Pick Candidates for November

DTC Chairman Jim Ezzes chaired the conference of about 40 Democrats who met in Room 309 at Town Hall to pick candidates for the Zoning Table of Appeals (ZBA), Planning and Zoning Commission (P&Z), Board of Education and Board of Finance.

At the same time an parallel number of Republicans headed by RTC Chairman Bob Zappi gathered for their own convention in a community room at Christ & Heavenly Trinity Church to pick candidates for the same spots.

When the evening ended, both parties met the state deadline, with all the slots filled, including three placeholders for the Republicans who will pretend their final decisions for a P&Z candidate and two school board members at their Aug. 16 meeting.

The Democrats picked office-holding Ezzes to run again for the ZBA, a spot he has held for four terms. They also chose Jennifer Johnson, who serves on the Parks and Recreation Commission, to run for the P&Z section being vacated by Eleanor Lowenstein who has served for 16 years.
