Man suffers heart attack at parade - in front of hospital float
HINSDALE (STMW) - Officials in Hinsdale confidence quick-acting medical and emergency personnel -- as well as a bit of luck by way of the placement of parade floats -- for redeeming the life of a man who suffered a heart attack during the west suburb’s Independence Day Parade.
During the esplanade, a man who was part of the Civil War reenactment group suffered a heart attack and went unresponsive at the corner of 3rd and Distribute streets, a release from the village of Hinsdale said. The parade came to a stop, while members of the Adventist Hinsdale Infirmary float, which was directly behind the Civil War reenactment group, saw the man go down and immediately went to provide assistance.
Fortunately for the man torture the heart attack, the Hinsdale Adventist float was filled with doctors and nurses from the hospital. They pronto determined the man was not breathing and did not have a pulse. They immediately started CPR on him.
A nearby Hinsdale Monitor Officer, Tom Lilllie, notified the Southwest Dispatch Center, which in turn initiated an ambulance return from the Hinsdale Fire Department, the release said. Another nearby Hinsdale Police Officer, Tim Lennox, rushed to the place with his Automatic External Deliberator (AED). Members of the Hinsdale Hospital float used the AED to help regain the man’s thumping. CPR was continued until the Hinsdale Fire Department Paramedics arrived.
