'In a world' voiceover master dies at 68 - CNN

Don LaFontaine, the voiceover ruler whose "In a sphere ..." noun phrase on silent picture trailers was much copied -- and much parodied -- has died, according to media reports. He was 68.

LaFontaine died Monday at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, California, according to ETOnline, "Pastime Tonight's" Web put. He died from complications from pneumothorax, a collapsed lung that causes air to figure in the pleural hollow, his go-between, Vanessa Gilbert, told "ET."

LaFontaine, who was born in Duluth, Minnesota, began as a representative actor in the mid-1960s while working as a recording engineer, according to his Web situation. His well-supported, minor extent gravelly speech was featured on trailers for thousands of films, including "The Godfather," "Murderous Draw" and "Terminator 2: Judgment Day." For a circumstance in the unpunctually '70s, LaFontaine was the ritualistic raise of Essential Pictures.

His favorite employment was one he did for the 1980 screen "The Elephant Man," he said in interviews, but whether the videotape was Oscar-caliber or a shell waiting to distend, he handled every commission equally.

  • Copa America Twofer: Chris Ryan's Recap and Weekend Preview

Up is down, coal-black is white, Messi is playing like he has acid reflux and it’s winter in Argentina. It’s the 2011 Copa America and (say it with me in your most beneficent Don LaFontaine voice ): Nothing is what it seems! Here are some storylines coming out of the first week and into the second, as group play heats up.

Don’t Cry For Them … Yet: To get the most out of Lionel Messi, Argentina administrator Sergio Batista wanted this Albiceleste team to play like Barcelona. I want my pickup basketball teams to play one's part like ’89-’90 UNLV, but that doesn’t make me Anderson Pursuit. And Batista’s wishes sure haven’t turned Ever Banega into Xavi.

This Argentina side looks more like a tactically untaught version of Inter Milan, with a midfield full of destroyers who can’t seem to link up with the all-world forward strategy of Messi, Carlos Tevez and Ezequiel Lavezzi.

Over two matches, Argentina has drawn twice, scored once, and approximately looked disheveled and suspect in the back. It only drew with Colombia — which was fiercely led by Porto’s Fredy Guarin — due to the magnanimous efforts of its keeper, Sergio Romero.

Who is the new movie voice over guy since Don LaFontaine died in 2008?

Don LaFontaine died in 2008. Who is doing the expression overs for movie trailers now? They sound similiar.

DID YOU KNOW THE VOICE TO MOST MOVIE TRAILERS IN THE UNITED STATES BELONGED TO DON LAFONTAINE?

IN a elated where people love to watch movies. How many people knew that the voice belonged to Mr. Don Lafontaine. Mr. Lafontaine has recently passed away.

Yes, and stock riddance. Now maybe not all trailers and commercials will sound the same:

ONE MAN, ONE WOMAN. THEY WENT TO FAR! IF YOU ONLY SEE ONE MOVIE THIS SEASON, THIS IS IT. Give me a friggin' discipline.

Who is the voice actor that replaced Don LaFontaine for doing movie trailers?

I was wondering because his publication sounds somewhat similar to Don's voice.

I believe it might be Samuel L. Jackson but I'm not sure.
