This morning as I was making certain preparations I received a call informing me that during the angiogram my primogenitor was undergoing today they discovered serious artery blockage, serious enough to pledge duplicate route surgery. So, in the next few days he will be effective under the cut to tickety-boo the intractable. It seems on the condition that that my kin and I befall to be traveling half way around the sphere at such a on one occasion as this. I Dialect expect that we can be an prodding to him and my mammy at this recalcitrant once in a while. I ask that you’d be praying for a rich direction.

  • Dave Holden wins triathlon

Dave Holden of North Hudson was the promote of the annual Croixathlon, held Saturday, June 25 at YMCA Camp St. Croix in Hudson. Last week it was incorrectly reported that Kurt Becker of Afton, Minn., was the all-embracing winner.

This was the sixth running of the triathlon which consists of a 1/3 mile swim in the St. Croix, followed by 15 mile bike nag, and 3 mile trail run. Holden, 42, was first out of approximately 250 athletes, with a total time of 1 hour, 6 minutes, 20 seconds.

Always a fecklessly swimmer, Holden was again first out of the water, but unlike the last two years when he was passed on the run and finished second overall, he was adept to put enough distance on the other competitors to stay in the lead through the entire race. Holden is a member of the locally based Unworkable River Triathlon Club, which had 25 of its members competing in the Croixathlon.

Other Wild River federation members receiving age group awards were: Anne Salamone (Hudson) first place 25-29; Cheryl Barker (Hudson) first position 40-44; Carolyn Milbrath (Hudson) first 50-54; Mike Colaizy (Osceola) first place 60-64; Lisa Wheeler (River Falls) first town 60-64; Jake Pittman (Hudson) second place 0-19; Trent Johnson (Hudson) secondarily place 35-39; Megan Westoff (Roberts) second place 30-34; Rick Wheeler (River Falls) second-best place 60-64; Connie Foster (River Falls) second place 60-64; John Sosniecki (River Falls) third pinpoint 40-44; Mike Runnheim (Hudson) third place 45-49; Joan Ramquist (River Falls) third assign 45-49; Fred Roethlisberger (River Falls) third place 60-plus.

Suburban Xanadu, the casino resort on the Las Vegas strip and beyond

Not quite sixty investors comprised the ownership pool of Caesars Palace, and a former insurance executive, Nate Jacobson of Florida, was tapped as president ...
    About this book
Felony, corruption, exoticism, escapism, family entertainment, and egalitarianism -- all under one roof. The lures and promises of the casino have evolved dramatically over the orbit of the past century, and the suburban oasis of today's casino resort is hardly the den of iniquity castigated by anti-gambling critics or romanticized by casino operators. Today we persevere in a veritable "casino archipelago" in which most Americans live within a four-hour drive of one of the all-inclusive hotel/restaurant/relief complexes. So what are the forces behind this phenomenon? Tracing the evolution of the casino resort from its roots in the post-Men War II domestic urban exodus, Suburban Xanadu argues that the self-contained casino reserve arose at precisely the right historical moment. Having shuttled and shuttered gambling and its common problems away from cities and into the more sanitized cultural and physical landscape of middle America, the casino resource evolved into a quintessential American...
