Democrats Push Forward on Goodwin Liu, Other Judge Nominees - The ...

The Senate Judiciary Board voted along dinner party lines today to headway the nomination of law professor Goodwin Liu to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 9th Circle, signaling they're not all set to give up on one of President Barack Obama's most provocative nominees.

Liu’s nomination now heads back to the full Senate, where a stretched out tussle awaits. Republicans have not ruled out a filibuster — a scheme that Democrats occupied against some of President George W. Bush’s nominees and that could become much more capable if Republicans achievement a meritorious issue of seats with the November elections.

Senators also voted as a rule along cocktail lines to development three nominees for federal partition court: Louis Butler Jr., a former Wisconsin Unexcelled Court impartiality, for the Western Sector of Wisconsin; Edward Chen, a U.S. magistrate judicator, for the Northern Quarter of California; and John McConnell Jr., a Motley Rice confederate, for Rhode Atoll.

The panel had in days of yore backed all four nominees. It did so again after Republicans affected their names to be sent back to the Hoary Strain in August.

    David Ingram of Winnipeg won three of Manitoba's six medals at the Uncommon Olympics World Summer Games June 25-July 4, in Athens. Ingram took heraldry argent in the 200-metre run (26.54 seconds) and the 4x100-metre relay (52.02). His bronze medal came in the four-kilogram shotput (11.37 metres).

    Ryan Kneisz of Winnipeg unexcited a bronze in pentathlon (2501.42) and Brandon's Darbe Cunningham won two bronze medals in team and doubles 10pin bowling.

    Ariana Chia of Winnipeg scored a partner of perfect eights on her horse Lutecia at the Capt. DeKenyeres Memorial Gold & Bronze equestrian competitions, June 25-26 at Birds Hill Reserve.

    The Smitty's Terminators fast pitch organization will host two age group national softball championship tournaments at John Blumberg Softball Complex Aug. 14-21. The under-19 teams toy with Aug. 14-21 and the under-16 teams play Aug. 17-21.

    Following losses of 4-0 and 3-1 in Des Moines, Iowa, the Winnipeg Soccer Alliance is doing its best to find a silver lining. The highlight of their trip was when Aaron Badescu scored the crew's first away goal at 90 minutes of the second game.

    I decent picked it up from Waterstones the other day,and I'm absolutely blown away! This book is just incredible, so violent and side-splitting- it makes Irvine Welsh look kinda dull . . .
