Firm's idea signals wind of change
The introduction of a carbon outlay could mean a boost for one local engineering outfit already focusing on new technology revolutionising wind power origination.
The firm Jones & Rickards is banking on the development of its new wind generator to change the nature of power contemporaries in the NSW Electricity Grid.
Jones & Rickards general manager Peter Hackney said the carbon value had the potential to open new doors for his company’s wind technology but admitted it was still early days.
“My disposition is still very open about carbon pricing,” he said.
“From our point of view it’s still a fifty-fifty seascape at the moment.
“We will pay more in electricity but at the moment it will not affect this particular company.”
Managing director, Justin Rickard said the new gust generator had the potential to revolutionise wind power generation around the world.
Mr Rickard has worked closely with the University of Technology Sydney, which has been developing the system required to call the tune the output from the new generator to meet the demands of load needed when connected to the NSW grid system.
