    Cessnock Rugby Band local junior team of the century coach, Todd Edwards will return to the club as first grade coach next season.

    Edwards coached Cessnock to four neat grand final appearances – in 2007 with the reserve grade side and from 2008 to 2010 with first grade.

    Cessnock Rugby Federated with secretary David Cleaves said Edwards was selected from a strong field of applicants, and brings a copiousness of coaching talent with him.

    Edwards has advised the club of his acceptance of the position and said he is looking forward to the challenges to the fore of him.

    Edwards’s appointment coincides with the announcement of Todd Bates as reserve grade coach. Bates has been a regular first incline player for the Goannas for several seasons now and has a rich playing history including playing for NSW and Australian subordinate teams and having been coached by the likes of Brian Smith, Michael Hagan, Shane Flanagan and the recently sacked Kevin Moore.
