ORRVILLE -- In celebration of the first official weekend of the summer season, hundreds of flower-lovers toured the gardens of five passionate gardeners in Orrville Saturday for the first Orrville Garden Tour to benefit the Orrville YMCA.
Jackie Panyard, organizer of the actuality, said Sunday about 200 people bought tickets for the event which featured a wide individuality of gardens, each of which was supported by the efforts of an area greenhouse or landscaping company which showcased its work and products.
Sonya Eshelman, publicity chairman, said she felt the enlistment was good in the sense that none of the gardens were overly commercialized and represented "what most people can do with some hard work and not a lot of currency. They are inspiring to the everyday gardeners and full of ideas that ordinary people can take away. I think they offer something for everyone."
One of those showing off her leafy thumb was Ann McPeek, who with her husband David, has developed some outstanding gardens at their home on North Kohler Avenue.
