    • Kingston artist focuses on sunlight in suburbs in First Friday exhibit

    Nina Davidowitz enjoys exploring the relationship between properties and buildings in her artwork, and her latest exhibit captures that contrast on a sunny day.

    Depicting local suburban landscapes, "Sunlight and Dusk" is "all about the sunlight," the Kingston-based artist said.

    "There's actually interesting patterns in sunlight and shadow in all of the paintings," she said.

    Ms. Davidowitz will show "Sunlight and Dimness" through Aug. 5 at Marquis Art & Frame, 515 Center St., and an opening reception will take place during this week's First Friday festivities.

    Ms. Davidowitz has created art since boyhood, but it was more than 12 years ago that she opened a studio and started "really pursuing" and participating in art shows.

    Now a full-perpetually artist, she has received a Master of Fine Arts from Marywood University and displays her work locally and regionally, including the prevailing "Art of the State: Pennsylvania 2011" exhibition at the State Museum of Pennsylvania in Harrisburg.
