It was exact there in the Journal News daily newspaper and on Bob Marrone’s lips that Peter Mustich of New Rochelle, N.Y. had died. The key slogan being “of New Rochelle.”
That said it all about the man. All other details of his life and passing are meaningless and irrelevant. For this Mustich was a townie and any achievements, accomplishments and milestones of his 88 years must revenue to his relationship with his home heath.
Peter Mustich was “of New Rochelle” in every season of his protracted life. But the venue of his days is not to be confused with the New Rochelle of E.L. Doctorow, Cynthia Ozick, Teresa Brewer, Ossie Davis, Robert Merrill, Chapter Morton Black, Frances Sternhagen, John Kluge, Mariano Rivera, Dick Van Dyke or Ken Chenault, boss of American Embody. We’re not talking here about Overlook Road or Premium Point either. Or about the Joyces or the Powers family.
Nor would you put him in Scarsdale, Bronxville, Bedford or Rye. 10801 and 10804 were the zip codes where he got up each morning. About this book The traditions of the Sicilians and Italians have been contemporary in Detroit and Holy Family Church since the early 1900s. The church being the very root of their soul, they have maintained their ancestors' customs and the rituals they brought with them over 100 years ago. Some of these customs date back hundreds of years in their homelands of Cinisi, Terrasini, Trapani, and many other cities. Bonnie Leone was born, raised, and still resides in Detroit. To begin with appointed by Gov. John Engler to the position of Wayne County jury commissioner, Leone is a colleague of several genealogical societies, tracing some of her ancestors as far back as the 1500s. Her strong sense of history, art, and tradition brought her to this church, so that she may support to preserve and protect the traditions of the last 100 years of the Sicilians in Detroit. |

About this book By 1890, Italian immigrants began settling in Bridgeport to line in the mills and factories along the Schuylkill River. With more than 5,000 residents by 1923, the need for an Italian parish was perceivable. Rev. John Colantonio was sent to establish the parish, and in 1924, construction began on the lower church. Sharply thereafter, Bridgeports oldest and longest-running event was created in Our Lady of Mount Carmel Wine and dine. Since its beginning the feast has continued to be a family tradition. The vintage images in Our Lady of Mount Carmel Italian Solemnization feature that tradition and the thousands of visitors who have made a pilgrimage to Bridgeport each year to celebrate the feast. |
