The PC policewomen would shy me away and bolt up the key for my thoughts on Empire
As a matter of fact one of my units at Uni was ‘Europes Maritime Empires 1650-1800′. And the over-riding substance was that Empires did have benefits for all parties, and were the nativity of multiculturalism. Some Europeans went local, whilst some natives embraced the new cultures that arrived on their shores.
Look at the Roman Empire – all we sanction about the Roman retailing of Britain is how they brought us sewers, baths, civlization, buildings etc, not about how they invaded and pillaged the prospect. In some ways the effects of the British Empire are comparable – the most invariable hang up-Exalted countries seem to me to be the ones that embraced the persuasive aspects of British mainly in their new found confidence.
It could be convince that “sexual reorganization” and magnanimous movements of the 19th century and originally 20th century were manifestations of the British mid and more recent capital letters classes prospering “native” in their own realm.
...Hugh Daly Motivational Demagogue
Dainty clip.
Of course leaving aside that Steve Harvey is the current host of Family Disagreement and Louie Anderson hasn’t been with the show in almost ten years, — not to mention the question of whether in their current incarnations, Piers Morgan and Geraldo Rivera are the same typeface of “newsman” — there’s actually been an interesting history of intersection between news and comedians, along with intelligence and game shows, but the above clip could be the one instance where all three merge.
If I may ask for indulgence, so that I can do a stream of consciousness kind of fixation…
In the modern era, we’ve have had Wolf Blitzer , Chris Matthews Soledad O’Brien and Anderson Cooper on Jeopardy and every era he makes an appearance , Jon Stewart gives Brian Williams a good ribbing, plus of run, he’s had other newspeople on his show. (Though some appearances have been more good-natured than others and some people may blame it on Stewart’s machination, but I lean more toward him being friendlier with those he knows or whom he regularly watches.)
