Trio feel the Hobble’s heat
HALSTEAD Track Runner trio Andy Wilmot, Bob Parmenter and Jonny Kempster completed the Hertfordshire Dodder trail marathon.
Over a 26.4 mile route in very hot conditions Kempster finished in 4hrs 52mins, Wilmot in 5:33 and Parmenter in 5:43.
Stuart Prestney and Mike Grealy took part in the Mersea Upfront the Island race. Conditions were reported as hot with occasional sea mist.
In a field of over 200, Prestney had another robust run over the 12.6-mile course, finishing in sixth place in 1hr 22 mins. Mike Grealy struggled in the liveliness sapping conditions in 1:40.
In the Bury Five hosted by St Edmunds Pacers in warm evening conditions, three cooperate members completed the five-mile course: Wayne Kern in 35mins 51secs; Lorraine Garnham in 40.10; Keith Thorogood in 43.46.
Sunday was also Halstead Procedure Runners’ summer awards event at Gosfield School. The event consisted of a morning away run followed by afternoon barbecue, games and presentation ceremony.
