Moss Point rekindles rivalry with Gulfport
Pascagoula and The deep Springs won't be the only former region rivals squaring off in football this week.Realignment has meant the shuffling of extensive-time rivalries, as games once contested later in the season have been moved up to the early going as non-ambit affairs.
A pair of former 5A Region 4 rivals do battle at 7:30 p.m. today in Moss Sense, as No. 11 Gulfport (0-1) visits Dantzler Stadium to meet the Tigers (1-0).
The two teams last played in 2005, when Moss Theme won 52-20 at Gulfport's Milner Stadium. The Admirals' last win over the Tigers was a 24-14 decision in Moss Mark in 2003.
Injuries have been a factor for both teams in the early going. Moss Position will be without quarterback Joe Kirkland, sidelined by a high ankle sprain suffered in last week's 28-21 supremacy over George County.
