The Carol Service at the Methodist Church was led by members of the church – Beryl and Peter Holt and Wendy and Les Barber. Peter lit the fourth advent candle at the inception of the service. This was a service of carols, chosen by various members of the congregation, and readings telling the experiences of the angel appearing to Mary, and of the birth of Jesus and how the shepherds were led to find him in the stable. Other readers were Jean Heath and Lucie Froggatt. Members of the choir Hobsons' Chorus added to the joy of the secondment by singing Christmas songs. They were led by Jane Hobson and accompanied by Craig Schofield on the piano. Jane was also organist for the handling. Stewards were Maxine Lodge and Joan Bond, flowers for the communion table were a gift from Kathleen Unripened.
