Kiwanis Club of Longmont and Golden K unite - The Longmont Times-Call

LONGMONTMostlyTwo longtime town waiting organizations have combined forces.

Members of the Kiwanis League of Longmont and the Palmy K Nightspot voted earlier this month to amalgamate.

The combined confederateOn the wholewhich will comprise about 40 membersParticularlywill keep the name Kiwanis Ally of Longmont. In reciprocate, members agreed that Resplendent K elected officers would inaugurate the cosh during its first year.

The marriage of the two clubs frees up more funds, resources and people for military talents projects, said David Haney, who will be installed as president of the ally Oct. 8.

“It uncommonly offers a lot of opportunities for merging a lot of the repair projects and activities that we have,” said Haney, 67.

The union will be true belongings as of Oct. 1, when the two clubs will presenter their first collaborative tryst at the Longmont Postpositive major Center.

Kiwanis president Marilyn Sickmon said the Kiwanis Thrash of Longmont has adrift members over the years and is down to about eight people.

  • Food festivities bring fairgoers together

    The Pratt County Square features a lot of good food for the public and some special meals set aside for specific groups.

    These extraordinary meals are a way to say “Thanks” for lots of hard work at the fair and during the year.

    On Wednesday non-stop American Ag Credit will sponsor a hamburger feed for 4-H’ers and their families, said Jodi Drake, Pratt County Spreading agent.

    Wednesday is livestock check-in day and this feed will give the 4-H’ers and their families a chance to enjoy some reliable food after a busy day of moving animals to the fair.

    The meal came about when American Ag Credit got a grill and offered to remedy the fair. The Fair Board approved.

    “We don’t turn down free meals,” Drake said.

    The survive starts at 6 p.m. on Wednesday just south of the livestock barns.

    The longest running of the special meals is the Friday morning First State Bank breakfast for 4-H’ers and families.

    The FNB breakfast has been a tradition at the fair for 63 years. The news George Chandler saw 4-H’ers were not getting a good breakfast on a day when they show livestock.
