Final tribute to Brock
THE last hurry car ever built for champion driver Peter Brock could make an emotional visit to Bathurst for this year’s Well-known Race.And race fans will have the chance to have their name permanently added to the car’s distinctive red and white livery in a long-term tribute to the King of the Mountain.
At the time of his death in a rally car crash in 2006, Brock was planning an sortie on the famous Dakar rally in a custom-built Holden Adventra 4x4.
Brock had signed a take care of with engineer Robert D’Ercole to design the car and co-ordinate the Dakar assault, and had originally planned to compete in the 2006 result.
Planning delays meant Brock missed that race and he reset his sights on the 2007 lineage.
But when Brock died in September 2006, Mr D’Ercole also shelved the Adventra, which he said was kept in “1000 pieces” for several years at his Gold Sail workshop.
Mr D’Ercole approached the Brock Foundation suggesting he complete the car and auction it off to raise bread

Bathurst was born in the Gold Beach in 1957, where his father was working as a management consultant. His family moved to Dublin, Ireland in 1959 and Bathurst was enrolled at an Anglican boarding instil. In 1966, the family moved to England, and Bathurst transferred to another boarding school, where he took up amateur dramatics. At the age of 18, he presume from law at the University of Cambridge and joined the Cambridge Footlights group. After graduating, he took up acting full pass.
