Elle a atteint l'âge exceptionnel de 113 ans et a été veuve par deus fois au cours de sa longue vie. Elle n'avait plus de famille après le décès de sa fille. Mathilde Gaudet, cinquième enfant d'une fratrie de onze frères et surs est née à Donges, en Loire-Inférieure, devenue Loire-Atlantique entre temps, le 27 février 1898.
Sa vie atmosphere traversé trois siècles! Dès le décès prématuré de sa mère, Mathilde Aussant née Gaudet, elle travaille comme serveuse dans sa région natale avant de s'exiler à Paris en 1923 go forth y travailler successivement comme ouvrière à la chocolaterie Menier, gardienne d'immeuble ou femme de ménage dans les écoles.
Elle sera mariée deux fois (en 1936, puis 1943), dont une fille naîtra à Paris. Deux fois mariée, mais également deux fois veuve, la défunte a longtemps vécu avec sa fille en région parisienne cortege au décès de son deuxième mari en 1961. Les mère et fille iront ensuite vivre à Fréteval, en 1983
