I'd describe myself, if not a skeptic, then at least ambivalent. It's not that I'm convinced stimulus is a bad viewpoint, but that economics isn't a error-free field: we don't be sure for indubitable that a stimulus combine will mend what ails us. Here are some reasons for suspicion, and I'm effective you and your readers have others:
Obdurate to do . It's not gentle to throw away liberal amounts of new cold hard cash immediately. Harder still to do it in a way that creates propitious value for fellowship and doesn't give rise to out the worst in our politicians. (I can learn Jon Stewart on the Routine Show: "Where's Ted Stevens when we deprivation him?") Bad timing . Suitably now, most forecasts call for continued shrinkage in the first half of 2009, unpresuming wen in the later half, when the stimulus starts to put in an appearance online, and faster rise in 2010, when spending hits sharp materiel. This is, of speed, the exemplary assertion against countercyclical economic conduct: it's unalterable to get the timing title. Selfish multiplier...Alexander Wenger ... The Plainview ISD Put up of Trustees voted 5-0 to approve the recommended redistricting plan from the Redistricting Advisory Body during its regular board meeting Thursday night.
A public hearing on redistricting is scheduled for 6 p.m. Aug. 2 at the Schooling Complex.
The recommendation, which was presented by committee member David Kopp, is part of the ongoing redistricting process the area must undertake after the 2010 Census showed a shift in the city’s population over the past decade.
According to PISD Foreman Dr. Ron Miller, the district’s population was 27,320 in 2000 and in 2010 it had dropped to 27,043.
Miller explained that in a perfect world each of the seven voting districts should represent 14.29 percent of the total population.
However, currently the precincts range from 13-16.17 percent for a thoroughgoing maximum deviation of 22.21 percent. A maximum deviation of more than 10 percent generally triggers redistricting.
Miller acuminate out that Precinct 1 (represented by Adam Soto) lost 348 residents, while Precinct 7 (represented by Sylvia De La Garza) gained 510. That materials showed a shift in population from the Seth Ward area and northeast Plainview westward into the extent around Wayland Baptist University and the high school, bounded on the east by Kokomo and on the west by Vernon and Yonkers.
