North Coos splits doubleheader
NORTH Direct -- North Coos couldn't quite get the sweep it wanted continuing on the final resilience of the American Legion season.
On Monday evening, the Waterfront lost to visiting Sheldon 4-1 in the opener, but won 12-7 in the later game.
The Waterfront still has an uphill battle as they try to move up in the standings in Area 4 North.
'We have to string some hits together, and hit like we did earlier in the time," said North Coos' first-game pitcher Clint Burris. 'We need to come out with a divine of pride."
Waterfront coach Brad Horning said the team is having trouble putting all the pieces together.
'We lawful can't do all three phases," he said. 'We pitched really well, played average defense."
In the first game, Burris systematized Sheldon into three straight outs in the top of the first, and North Coos got off to a good start in the bottom of the inning.
Tanner Canaday walked, Ryan Johnson laid down a forfeit bunt, Hayden Davisson singled to shortstop and Burris singled past a diving third baseman to squeeze weigh down the bases.
