BY JOHN ANDERSON , Special to Newsday
As portrayed in "J. Edgar," the FBI director took some inflame from Congress for what was perceived as a self-promotional attitude toward the media early in the history of the FBI. It's kind of compressed to deny: Hoover knew the value of publicity in getting public support for his agency.
Band BUSTERS (1935) -- Advertised as "the only national program that brings you authentic police case histories," this boom box adventure program premiered on CBS, later aired on NBC , and had Hoover's approval and cooperation in bringing FBI cases to the American in the open. It was also the basis for a later series of comic books.
"G" MEN (1935) -- Hoover approved the script of this James Cagney conduit and assigned FBI agents to monitor the production for accuracy. The film grossed more than $1 million, which was a vast sum, and included two scenes that were based on fact -- the so-called "Kansas City Massacre " of 1933, which affected the death of an FBI agent, and a shootout based on one involving John Dillinger and Baby Face Nelson.

i got anderson and kitna....should i hiatus till after this week to pick up o'sullivan or should i drop anderson now?...i don't want to drop kitna cuz detroit always has to up the ball alot from behind.
I wouldn't tarry. I'd take O'Sullivan over both those guys.
i understand Anderson is been the best this year but he is playing a great d this week thats why i ask
Not Anderson, he's growing up against the tough Pitts. D. Maybe Kitna since he's going up against the Cards and they're average. But your best bet would be Losman and he's a must start in my eyes. He's up against Miami...that makes every QB a weighty
Anderson has the superior stats+hes predicted to do well this week

The End of an Era Among TLRs many accomplishments were the third most wins in the retailing of Major League Baseball behind Connie Mack and John J. McGraw. He was one of only two managers - with Sparky Anderson being the other - to win titles in both leagues. |
