In Bob Dylan in America, noted historian Sean Wilentz brings not only conjectural adroitness but the passion of a honourable fan to his investigation and scrutiny of Dylan’s tidy and groundbreaking substance of drudgery. Thirteen of these icons of American songwriting will be excerpted on the audiobook, integrated with Wilentz’s description of the workbook.
From “Tangled Up in Obscene” to “Depredation Row” to “Highway 61 Revisited,” many of these tracks are classics of American music. Also featured on the audiobook are songs by blues guitarist Unaffected Willie McTell and canary Martha Copeland, both principal influences on Dylan’s own style.
In the tome, Wilentz contextualizes Dylan’s exertion in the turbulent cultural vista of the 1960s and provides a uncertain comprehension of him as an artist, songwriter and artiste to the produce day.
Wilentz, in adding to being an mature critic and historian, grew up in Greenwich Village listening to Dylan work in downtown clubs primitive in his employment, giving him a solitary sensitivity and position on his calling over the years. He was granted unprecedented access to Dylan’s working tapes, recording notes, photographs and other papers in the lecture of composition the regulations, and is the ceremonious historian-in-house of bobdylan.com.

About this book The legions of Bob Dylan fans be acquainted with that Dylan is not just a great composer, writer, and performer, but a great thinker as well. In "Bob Dylan and Philosophy, eighteen philosophers analyze Dylan's moral positions, political commitments, views on gender and sexuality, and his complicated and controversial attitudes toward belief. All phases of Dylan's output are covered, from his early acoustic folk ballads and anthem-like protestation songs to his controversial switch to electric guitar to his sometimes puzzling, often profound music of the 1970s and beyond. The work examines different aspects of Dylan's creative thought through a philosophical lens, including personal individuality, negative and positive freedom, enlightenment and postmodernism in his social criticism, and the morality of bootlegging. An pleasing introduction to deep philosophical truths, the book provides Dylan fans with an opportunity to learn about cool-headedness while impressing fans of philosophy with the deeper implications... |
