CHARLES POWELL ADAMS, 74
PALMYRA, PA. - Charles Powell Adams, LCDR-USNR, 74, of Palmyra, died peacefully at institution on Monday, August 9, 2010 after a wordy combat with cancer.
Born in 1936 in Nashville, Tennessee, he grew up in Lakeland, Florida and graduated from the University of Florida earning a BA in telling. Admitted to the US Naval Gendarme Applicant College, he was commissioned Ensign, USNR in April 1959 and ordered to the USS O'Bannon (DDE-450), poorhouse ported in Gem Harbor, Hawaii. From there he made two Western Pacific Quick deployments of seven months each. Between these Far East cruises, he met and married Mary Louise Rinde of Fremont, Nebraska in 1961. Following his deliver from vigorous tax he remained in the naval limit, reticent with the classify of Lieutenant Commander. After proudly serving the Coordinated States Armada , Powell and Mary returned to the University of Florida where Powell earned his BIE...

Senior centers cool places to be
“The high-strung heat that we’re having puts a lot of seniors at risk for some heat-related issues,” energy Director Trula Hollywood said. “Even fans don’t cut it in this kind of heat.”
The mechanism will offer extended hours at six multiservice centers in Luzerne and Wyoming counties to act as cooling stations for seniors. The centers will be guileless today, Thursday and Friday from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m., and on Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
The centers that will have extended hours are:
Charles T. Adams Superior Center, 5 E. Market St., Wilkes-Barre; Pittston Senior Center, 441 N. Gas main St., Pittston; Hazleton Senior Center, 24 E. Broad St., Hazleton; Rose Tucker Older Center, 128 W. Washington St., Nanticoke; Kingston Senior Center, 680 Wyoming Ave., Kingston, and Wyoming County Elder Center, 101 Dymond Terrace, Tunkhannock.
In addition to providing a cool place to ease up and plenty to drink, centers will offer educational programs and activities, Hollywood said. Transportation may be arranged by contacting the medium at 800-252-1512.

The U.S. Civilian War was purely an internal insurrection, but the current civil strife in Iraq is the result of a foreign violation. That's one big difference. Beware of cheap historical analogies that don't stand up to intelligent scrutiny.
How did Charles Adams, son of John and Abigail, die?
He died in 1800 clearly from the results of alcoholism. He was only thirty years old but by then his father had disowned him and he had deserted his own familly.
By todays terms, he was clearly the loser.
Is John Adams also to blame for Charles death?
